Orientation FAQ's
What is Orientation?
Delgado’s orientation program ( OARS – Orientation - Advising - Registration - Support Services ) is designed to welcome you to the campus and to provide you with the vital information and “tools” to enable you to make a smooth and successful transition to Delgado.
During OARS you will learn how to navigate the college experience ( deadlines, policies, procedures, student activities, rights & responsibilities, services and resources.) , receive your placement test scores, and meet with an advisor to schedule your classes.
When do I attend?
Fall Start (August)
For first time college students beginning in the Fall semester Orientations begin in May. EX. First time freshman beginning in Fall 2007, could attend Orientation as early as May 2007.
Spring Start (January)
For first time college students beginning in the Spring semester Orientations begin in November. EX. First time freshman beginning in January 2007, could attend Orientation as early as November 2006.
What to bring?
When you attend Orientation please bring:
- A picture ID
- Your college catalog (can be picked-up at the Bursar’s Office at the City Park or West Bank Campus or at the Main Office at either Northshore location, after you have paid your $15 admissions fee)
- A Pencil
How long is Orientation?
Orientations last approximately 3 hours.
How do I schedule an Orientation?
Orientations are scheduled through the Office of Testing at the City Park and West Bank Campuses or the Main Office at either Northshore locations. Once you have taken a Placement test, an Orientation date is offered to the student. If you do not need to take a Placement Test, please contact the Office of Testing at the City Park and West Bank Campuses or the Main Office at either Northshore locations.
