Delgado Community College welcomes students from around the world!

Students representing more than 80 different nationalities are presently enrolled in various Delgado programs, including English as a Second Language (ESL). The ESL program at Delgado Community College is recognized both nationally and worldwide as one of the largest programs of intensive English instruction in the United States.

International students on an F-1 and M-1 visas are required to register and complete each semester (Fall and Spring) as full-time students. Failure to enroll for a full course of study is considered a violation of the F-1 and M-1 immigration visa status.

International students on an F-1 or M-1 visas who will study at Delgado Community College must complete the international student admissions process to be considered. If you have any questions, email the International Student Advisor at isa@dcc.edu. Applications and other requirements msut be submitted to International Student Admissions according to the following schedule.

First time Students: Fall semester-before July 1; Spring Semester-before Nov. 15; Summer Session-before April 15

Transfer Students: Fall semester-before August 10; Spring semester-before Jan. 10; Summer session-before May 10

 International Student Admissions

Step 1:  Letter of Intent
Please explain why you are interested in studying in the United States and why you have chosen Delgado Community College to continue your education. The letter MUST be translated into English.

Step 2:  Admission Application
Applicants must fully complete and sign the Admissions Application. Click here for more information or to download the admissions application in PDF format.

Step 3:  Admission Application Fee
A $25.00 application fee must be included with the application for admission. We will accept a check or money order payable to Delgado Community College.

Step 4:  Proof of Immunization
Submit proof of immunization compliance if born after 1956. Click here for more information or to download the compliance form.

Step 5:  Statement of Understanding
Please read the downloadable Statement of Understanding, then sign, date, and submit.

Step 6:  Financial Support
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigrations Service requires all international students attending a college or university to submit a statement of financial support as well as an official bank letter. Click here for more information or to download the forms.

Step 7:  Foreign Transcript
International students enrolling in degree or certificate programs are required to submit official transcripts. Click here for more information.

Step 8:  Submission of Admissions Documents
Mail the completed admissions packet to: Delgado Community College, International Student Admissions, 615 City Park Ave., New Orleans, LA 70115. The admissions packet must contain the following:

Step 9:  Acceptance Notification
You will be notified by mail regarding your admission status. A Certificate of Eligibility (SEVIS Form I-20) will accompany your acceptance letter.

Step 10:  Obtaining your F-1 visa
The Certificate of Eligibility (SEVIS Form I-20), acceptance letter, passport, and I-901 SEVIS fee receipt are used to obtain a visa (F-1) at a U. S. consulate nearest to you. Click here for more information or to pay the fee online.

Step 11:  English Language Proficiency Assessment
The Delgado English Language proficiency assessment is required of international students whose native language is not English. Click here for

Step 12:  Attend the International Student Orientation
All F-1/M-1 students attending Delgado Community College as a first time freshmen will be required to attend an orientation. Click here for
